The nitrosylation of (dimorpholinophosphinyl)haloacetaldehydes in acetic acid yields (dimorpholinophosphinyl)formonitrile N-oxide and not the expected oximes of (dimorpholinophosphinyl)formyl halides. (Dimorpholinophosphinyl)formonitrile N-oxide reacts with HCl, HI, primary and secondary amines, and acylhydrazines, forming 1,3-addition products.Reactions of (dimorpholinophosphinyl)formonitrile N-oxide with thiourea and thiosemicarbazide do not stop at the stage of -cycloaddition to the C=S bond, even at room temperature. The nature of the final product depends on the structure of the initial thio compound.
