A series of novel fluorinated 10H-phenothiazines were synthesized via Smiles rearrangement. 10H-phenothiazines on refluxing with 30% hydrogen peroxide in glacial acetic acid gave 10H-phenothiazines- 5, 5-dioxides (sulphones). These synthesized 10H-phenothiazines were then used as base to prepare ribofuranosides by treating them with sugar (β-D-ribofuranosyl- 1-acetate-2, 3, 5-tribenzoate). The synthesized compounds were screened for antimicrobial activity and anthelmintic activity. The structural assignments of ompounds were made on the basis of spectroscopic data and elemental analysis. Indian Academy of Sciences.
