General Description

Pyrimidine, 2-ethynyl-4-methoxy- (9CI) is a chemical compound belonging to the pyrimidine family, which is a six-membered heterocyclic ring containing four carbon atoms and two nitrogen atoms. The compound is characterized by the presence of an ethynyl group (-C≡CH) and a methoxy group (-OCH3) attached to the pyrimidine ring. It is used in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical research, particularly in the development of novel pharmaceutical agents with potential biological activity. The compound may also have applications in the fields of material science, agrochemicals, and other industrial processes. Additionally, its properties and reactivity make it a valuable building block for the synthesis of more complex organic molecules.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 161489-04-9 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,6,1,4,8 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 161489-04:
(8*1)+(7*6)+(6*1)+(5*4)+(4*8)+(3*9)+(2*0)+(1*4)=139
139 % 10 = 9
So 161489-04-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Use of Hydrogen Bonds To Control Molecular Aggregation. Behavior of Dipyridones and Pyridone-Pyrimidones Designed To Form Cyclic Triplexes

Boucher, Eric,Simard, Michel,Wuest, James D.

, p. 1408 - 1412 (2007/10/02)

The tendency of 2-pyridones and related heterocycles to form cyclic hydrogen-bonded dimers allows them to be used as sticky sites that induce molecules in which they are incorporated to associate in particular ways.Compound 7, which is constructed from pyridone and pyrimidone subunits linked to a rigid linear acetylenic spacer, incorporates an array of hydrogen-bonding sites designed to favor the formation of a cyclic triplex.Pyridone-pyrimidone 7 was synthesized and the structure of its DMSO solvate was determined by X-ray crystallography.Aggregation does not produce a cyclic triplex but rather gives chains in which adjacent molecules of compound 7 are linked by single hydrogen bonds.
