Products of reaction of triphenyl phosphine with the accesssible 2-phenyl-4-chloromethylene-5(4H)-oxazolinone and its analogs are readily decomposed by water, alcohols, ammonia, amines, and hydrazine and its derivatives.These reactions were used for preparation of a number of previously unknown vinylphosphonium salts containing a characteristic -CONH- moiety.Some of the compounds obtained are useful for heterocyclizations.
