166023-21-8 Usage
Description
DC-Chol, also known as DC-Cholesterol HCl, is a cationic cholesterol derivative commonly used as a sterol-based transfection reagent. It is known for its ability to form liposomes with L-α-phosphatidylethanolamine, dioleoyl, which efficiently transfect mammalian cell lines. DC-Chol is also recognized for its hemocompatibility, as it does not affect the levels of neutrophil elastase, β-thromboglobulin, or the number of platelets and red and white blood cells when incubated with human whole blood.
Uses
Used in Gene Transfection:
DC-CHOL is used as a transfection reagent for the delivery of genetic material, such as mRNA, siRNA, DNA, and chemotherapeutic agents, into cells and mice. Its cationic nature allows it to form lipoplexes with DOPE, which enhances the transfection efficiency without affecting cell viability.
Used in the Preparation of Ultrasound Cationic Microbubbles:
DC-CHOL is used as a component in the preparation of ultrasound cationic microbubbles, which are utilized in various medical imaging and drug delivery applications.
Used in the Preparation of Liposomes:
DC-CHOL is used as a key ingredient in the preparation of liposomes, which are versatile drug delivery systems that can encapsulate and protect various therapeutic agents, enhancing their bioavailability and targeting specific cells or tissues.
Used in the Preparation of L-Glutathione (GSH) Loaded Proliposomes:
DC-CHOL is used in the preparation of L-glutathione (GSH) loaded proliposomes, which are advanced drug delivery systems designed to improve the stability, solubility, and bioavailability of GSH, a crucial antioxidant molecule with potential therapeutic applications in various diseases.
Biochem/physiol Actions
DC-Cholesterol is an effective transfection agent and a liposome reagent. Liposome of DC-Cholesterol with dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE) are efficient for DNA transfection. It imparts positive surface charge to the microbubbles for ultra sound based transfection of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPRs).
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 166023-21-8 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,6,6,0,2 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 166023-21:
(8*1)+(7*6)+(6*6)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*3)+(2*2)+(1*1)=108
108 % 10 = 8
So 166023-21-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
