Tris-(1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-pentanedionato-O,O'')-cobalt, also known as Co(hfac)3, is a coordination compound of cobalt with the chemical formula Co(C5HF7O2)3. It is a deep red to maroon powder that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Tris-(1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-pentanedionato-O,O'')-cobalt is commonly used as a source of cobalt in the chemical vapor deposition of cobalt films and in the production of cobalt nanoparticles. It is also used as a catalyst in various organic reactions and as a precursor for the synthesis of other cobalt-containing compounds. Additionally, Co(hfac)3 is utilized in the production of magnetic materials and as a component in the manufacturing of electronic devices.
