Synthesis and characterization of dimeric organochalcogenido-bridged methylpalladium and allylpalladium complexes

Dimeric organochalcogenido-bridged methylpalladium and allylpalladium complexes of the types and 3-allyl)2> (E = S or Se; R = Et, iPr, tBu, Ph, C6H4CH3-4, C6H4Cl-4) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H, 13C and 31P) spectroscopy.The methylpalladium complexes exist either as cis isomers or as a mixture of cis and trans forms, with the former predominating.The allylpalladium complexes exist in syn and anti forms.The dynamic behaviour in these complexes was studied by variable-temperature 1H NMR spectroscopy.A few reactions of 3-allyl)2> with free thiols were also investigated.Keywords: Palladium; Allylpalladium; Methylpalladium; Dimeric; Organochalcogenide; NMR
