Synthesis and Physico-Chemical Studies on Some Derivatives of o-Hydroxyphenylazo-1-methyl-3-phenyl-2-thiohydantoins and Their Chelates with Metal Ions

Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes with some derivatives of o-hydroxyphenylazo-1-methyl-3-phenyl-2-thiohydantoin have been prepared. Their stoichiometry and stability constants were investigated in solution using conductometric and potentiometric measurements. The ionization constants of the ligands and the formation constants of the chelates were determined. The structure of the solid complexes (1M : 1L) and (1M : 2L) has been confirmed by elemental analyses, thermal (TGA and DTA) methods,IR and (1)H NMR spectra.
