Description

Aluminum sulfate, AI2(SO4)3, is a colorless salt composed of monoclinic crystals with a specific gravity of 2.71. It is a common aluminum salt used in astringents and is very similar to aluminum. It is water-soluble and decomposes with the application of heat. One of the commonest hydrates of aluminum sulfate is a hydrate resulting from the formal combination of anhydrous aluminum sulfate with approximately 16 mol eq. of water.
