Neutral PtLCl2 and ionic [PtL2]Cl2 complexes are synthesized upon the interaction of heterocyclic 1,5-di-R-3,7-diphenyl-1,5,3,7-diazadiphosphacyclooctanes (R = Ph, Tol-p, and Bz) with dichlorodi(benzonitrile)platinum(II) and platinum(II) dichloride. Neutral complexes of different structure, where heterocyclic phosphine acts as bidentate chelating or bridgingP,P'-ligand, can be obtained, depending upon the reaction conditions an d the techniques for isolation of complexes from the reaction mixtures. The X-ray diffraction analysis of cis-dichloro(P,P'-1,3,5,7-tetraphenyl-1,5,3,7-diazadiphosphacyclooctane)platinum(II) and bis(P,P'-1,5-di-p-tolyl-3,7-diphenyl-1,5,3,7-diazadisphosphacyclooctane)platinum(II) dichloride is carried out. The coordination of the platinum atom is planar square in the former compound and distorted planar square in the latter. Bicyclic fragments have the bath-chair conformation.
