The reaction of Diels-Alder adducts of p-benzoquinone and 1,4-naphthoquinone (1-3) with aromatic nitrile oxides, such as benzonitrile and 2,4,6-trimethylbenzonitrile oxides is reported.New heterocyclic quinone systems are thus obtained.The reaction of 1 with diphenylnitrilimine to yield the pyrazoloquinone 18 is also studied.
