Spectral studies on some newly synthesized bis(3-nitro-1,5-diarylformazan)palladium(II) chelates

A few bis(3-nitro-1,5-diarylformazan)palladium(II) chelates have been prepared by reacting an acetonic solution of the corresponding 3-nitroformazan with palladium (II) chloride.The complexes have been characterised by elemental analysis, IR and PMR studies.These studies reveal that the coordination of the metal ion occurs through the nitrogen atoms 1 and 5 and that the NO2 group does not participate in coordination.The structure of these chelates contain two symmetric six membered CN4Pd rings.
