The 1-methylene-4-phenylcyclohexadiene triosmium complex 2:η2:η2-H2C=C6H5Ph)> has been prepared from the reaction of 2:η1:η2-C6H5Ph)>, which contains a side-on-co-ordinated carbene group, with the Wittig reagent H2C=PPh3; the crystal and molecular structure of the product has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
