An intramolecular Heck reaction is performed with palladium acetate on iodoethylenic ester 9b to afford in good yield the tetracyclic ester 6 which gave access to potential antiinflammatory agents.

An intramolecular Heck reaction was performed with palladium(II) acetate on iodoethylenic esters 6-7 to afford an ethylenic seven-membered system 8- 9. α-alkylation of 8 was investigated to afford the corresponding α-methyl compound 10. This new family of compounds 11-12 gave access to potential antiinflammatory agents.
