Novel applications of 2-cyanoethylanilines in the synthesis of conjugated primary and secondary anilines
Liao, Yi,Robinson, Bruce H.
, p. 1473 - 1475 (2004)
2-Cyanoethyl anilines were controllably cleaved by 1equiv of potassium t-butoxide in dry THF with a reaction that can be used in situ with the Wittig reaction to synthesize conjugated primary and secondary anilines.

Page/Page column 16, (2010/02/15)
The invention relates to an optical data carrier which comprises a preferably transparent substrate which is optionally already coated with one or more reflective or protective layers, to the surface of which an information layer which can be written with light, optionally one or more reflective layers and optionally a protective layer or an additional substrate or a cover layer are applied. Said data carrier can be written and read with blue light, preferably laser light. The information layer comprises a light-absorbing compound and optionally a binder. The invention is characterized in that a least one hemicyanine dye of formula (I), wherein either R1 represents methyl, R2 represents hydrogen, chlorine, methyl or methoxy, R3 represents methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, chloroethane or cyanoethane, R4 represents chloroethane or cyanoethane and An-represents hexafluorophosphate, or R1 represents methyl, R2 represents hydrogen, chlorine, methyl or methoxy, R3 represents ethyl, propyl, butyl, chloroethane or cyanoethane, R4 represents chloroethane or cyanoethane and An- represents trifluoromethane sulfonate, (CF3SO2)2N- or perchlorate, is used as the light-absorbing compound.
