Date Jan. 23, 1997A 5-pyrazolylbenzoic acid compound of the formula I wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, cyanoalkyl or haloalkyl; R2 is alkoxy, alkylthio, haloalkoxy or haloalkylthio; R3 is hydrogen, cyano, nitro, halogen; R4 is halogen; R5 is cyano, halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy or haloalkoxy; R6 is -O-R7, -S-R7, -N(R8)-R7 or -N(R8)-OR7; R7 is -X-C(R9)=N-O-R10, -X-C(R9)=N-O-Z-R10, -X-O-N=C(R11,R12), -X-SO2-R13 or an unsubstituted or substituted saturated 3- to 7-membered heterocycle or heterocyclylalkyl radical; R8 is hydrogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, haloalkenyl, alkynyl or alkylsulfonyl; and R8 to R13 are as defined in the specification, or an agriculturally useful salt of a compound I, which is useful as a herbicide and for desiccating or defoliating plants.
