The bridged heterotrimetallic complexes with a general formula of [M(CO)3(η5-C5H4ZC 5H4-η5)(CO)3-M]Hg (M = Cr, Mo, W, Z = C(O)CH2CH2C(O); M = Mo, Z = CH2CH2OCH2CH2) can be readily prepared through reaction of PhHgCl with appropriate dianions -M(CO)3-(η5-C5H 4ZC5H4-η5)(CO)3M - in THF or diglyme. Their structures assigned by combustion analysis and spectroscopy are further confirmed by X-ray crystallography for one representative complex [Mo(CO)3(η5-C5H4CH 2-CH2OCH2CH2C5H 4-η5(CO)3Mo]Hg.
