Synthesis and α,β-adrenergic blocking potency of 2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin derivatives (I)

The synthesis of a new series of α- and β-adrenergic blocking agents 14 is described. The affinity and selectivity of these compounds for α, β1 and β2-adrenoceptors were studied in comparison with those of WB-4101 and propranolol. The derivatives 14cx and 14dx are more potent β1-blockers than propranolol.
