A monocyclic 3-amino-β-lactam analog of the dipeptide Phe-Gly methyl ester has been synthesized as a potential protease inhibitor. This β-lactam is a non-time-dependent inhibitor of α-chymotrypsin, carboxypeptidase Y, and cathepsin G.
