Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 177424-30-5 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,7,7,4,2 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 177424-30:
(8*1)+(7*7)+(6*7)+(5*4)+(4*2)+(3*4)+(2*3)+(1*0)=145
145 % 10 = 5
So 177424-30-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The Preparation and Thermal Properties of Terminal Disubstituted N-(4-Benzoyloxybenzylidene)anilines

Takenaka, Shunsuke,Ikemoto, Tetsuya,Kusabayashi, Shigekazu

, p. 3965 - 3966 (1986)

The homologous series of N--4-(2-methylbutoxy)aniline (1), and N-benzylidene>-4-n-alkoxyaniline (2), and N--4-(2-methylbutoxy)aniline (3) where the 2-methylbutoxyl group has an S-configuration, have been prepared.Series 1 and 2 form a chiral smectic C (S*C) phase in addition to a cholesteric (Ch) and a chiral smectic G (S*G) phases, and series 3 form (S*C) and Ch phases.

Synthesis, mesophase behavior and thermal stability of liquid crystals based on different central linkages with lateral substitution and terminal heterocyclic moieties

Thaker,Patel, Pranay

experimental part, p. 173 - 185 (2011/08/02)

The synthesis and evaluation of thermal behavior of two new mesogenic homologous series of liquid crystalline compound containing 1,2,4-triazole and isonicotinic acid ring at the terminus of the molecule have been reported, viz. 3-hydroxy-4-[(4-1,2,4-triazol-4-ylimino)methyl] phenyl 4-alkoxybenzoate (Series-I) and 3-hydroxy-4 (isonicotinoyl carbonohydrazonoyl) phenyl 4-alkoxy benzoate (Series-II). The compounds of both the series have been characterized by elemental Analysis, FT-IR, mass spectrometry, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. Phase transition temperatures and the thermal parameters were obtained from differential scanning calarimetry (DSC). The texture observation was performed under polarizing optical microscopy (PMO) attached with Mettler hot stage. All the derivatives are mesomorphic in nature showing nematic phase as well as higher members of both the series show smectic phase. The use of triazole and isonicotinic acid as a terminal group has a very dramatic effect on the melting and clearing points. Similarly lateral-OH substitution on central phenyl ring shows higher clearing temperature due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The mesomorphic behavior has been analyzed in terms of structural property relation. Copyright Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Synthesis, characterization, and mesomorphic properties of new liquid-crystalline compounds involving ester-azomethine central linkages, lateral substitution, and a thiazole ring

Thaker,Patel, Pranay,Vansadia,Patel

, p. 13 - 22 (2008/02/06)

In continuation with our work on liquid crystals with unconventional molecular structures, two homologous series that have 1,4-disubstitution and 1,3,4-trisubstitution in the central phenyl ring, such as 2[(4-n-alkoxy- benzyloxy) phenyl azomethine]-5-methyl thiazole and 2-[(4-n-alkoxy-benzyloxy)-2- hydroxy salicyladimine]-5-methyl thiazole, have been synthesized. They have been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, and mass spectrometry. The liquid-crystalline behavior of these compounds was observed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing microscopy. All the compounds of the 1,4-disubstituted series show an enantiotropic nematic phase only, whereas the compounds of the 1,3,4-trisubstituted series show smectic and nematic phases. Some mesogens with a lateral hydroxy group were also synthesized to evaluate the effect of this group on melting point, transition temperatures, and mesophase morphology.

Synthese de cristaux liquides nematiques a squelette rigide organometallique

Bayle, J.-P.,Bui, E.,Perez, F.,Courtieu, J.

, p. 532 - 536 (2007/10/02)

Copper, nickel and palladium complexes with N-(4-(4'-n-alkoxybenzoyloxy) salicylidene)-4-n-butylaniline and N-(4-(4'-n-hexadecyloxybenzoyloxy) salicylidene)-4-n-alkoxyaniline have been synthesized. The copper and palladium derivatives show mesomorphic properties and exhibit a nematic phase over a large temperature range. In contrast, the nickel derivatives do not show any mesomorphic behavior. The liquid-crystalline-phase transitions were determined using a differential scanning calorimeter and a polarizing microscope. All these physical characteristics are compared and discussed.

New Liquid Crystalline Homologous Series Exhibiting the Smectic C Phase

Sakagami, Sakumitshu

, p. 1153 - 1154 (2007/10/02)

A liquid cristalline homologous series of N--4-butylanilides and their hydroxyl derivatives at the 2-position were synthesized, and then the liquid-crystalline-phase transitions were determined using a differential scanning calorimeter and a polarizing microscope. All of the members exhibit a nematic phase, and a smectic C phase can be observed for the homologoues with a relatively long alkoxy chain.
