17861-62-0 Usage
Uses
Used in Chemical Production Industry:
Nickel nitrite is used as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of various other chemicals. Its properties make it a valuable component in the production of different chemical compounds and materials.
Air & Water Reactions
Slightly soluble in water.
Reactivity Profile
NICKEL NITRATE is a strong oxidizing agent. A violent explosion occurs if an ammonium salt is melted with a nitrite salt [Von Schwartz 1918. p. 299]. A mixture of potassium cyanide and nitrite salts may cause an explosion [Pieters 1957. p. 30].
Health Hazard
Inhalation, ingestion or contact (skin, eyes) with vapors or substance may cause severe injury, burns or death. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may cause pollution.
Fire Hazard
These substances will accelerate burning when involved in a fire. Some may decompose explosively when heated or involved in a fire. May explode from heat or contamination. Some will react explosively with hydrocarbons (fuels). May ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may create fire or explosion hazard.
Safety Profile
Confirmed carcinogen.
When heated to decomposition it emits
toxic fumes of NOx and Ni.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 17861-62-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,8,6 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17861-62:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*8)+(4*6)+(3*1)+(2*6)+(1*2)=130
130 % 10 = 0
So 17861-62-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
