Trisiloxane, 1,5-dibutyl-1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethyl-, also known as D5, is a cyclic siloxane compound with the chemical formula C12H28Si3O3. It is a colorless, odorless, and non-toxic liquid that is widely used in various applications, including personal care products, industrial processes, and as a component in silicone-based materials. D5 is known for its excellent thermal stability, low surface tension, and high chemical resistance, making it a valuable additive in numerous industries. However, concerns have been raised about its potential environmental and health impacts, leading to ongoing research and regulatory discussions.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 17907-80-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,9,0 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17907-80:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*9)+(4*0)+(3*7)+(2*8)+(1*0)=131
131 % 10 = 1
So 17907-80-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

SELECTIVITY IN THE REACTIONS OF ALKYLLITHIUM REAGENTS WITH α, ω-DICHLOROPERMETHYLSILOXANES

Kazoura, Samih Amine,Weber, Wolliam P.

, p. 149 - 156 (1983)

The reactions of 1,3-dichlorotetramethyldisiloxane and 1,5-dichlorohexamethyltrisiloxane with alkyllithium reagents have been studied. At low temperature (-78 deg C) only one of the two silicon-chlorine bonds of 1,3-dichlorotetramethyldisiloxane reacts readily with alkyllithium reagents. This permits the selective preparation of 1-alkyl-3-chlorotetramethyldisiloxanes or by hydrolysis 1-alkyl-3-hydroxytetramethyldisoloxanes.The silicon-chlorine bond of 1-alkyl-3-chlorotetramethyldisiloxanes reacts with alkyllithium reagents at higher temperatures (0 deg C).Both the silicon-chlorine bonds of 1,5-dichlorohexamethyltrisiloxane react competitively with alkyllithium reagents at -78 deg C.No cleavage of siloxane bonds by alkyllithium reagents is observed under these conditions.Spectral properties of a number of 1-alkyl-3-hydroxytetramethyldisiloxane and 1-alkyl-5-hydroxyhexamethyltrisoloxanes are reported.
