Two derivatives of β-maltosyl-(1→4)-trehalose monodeoxygenated at positions 4 or 4? have been synthesized in [2+2] block syntheses. After the preparation of precursors with only one free hydroxyl group the deoxy function was introduced by a Barton-McCombi
