1, 3-Diaryl-1, 3-dihydro-4, 5-dioxo-6-phenyl-2-thioxo-5H-pyrano[2, 3-d]pyrimidine derivatives 3a-f and 1, 3-diaryl-1, 3-dihydro-7-methyl-4, 5-dioxo-6-phenyl-2-thioxo-5H-pyrano[2, 3-d]pyrimidine derivatives 4a-f have been prepared by condensation of 1, 3-diaryl-1, 3-dihydro-4, 6-dioxo-5-phenylacetyl-2-thioxo-5H-pyrimidines 2a-f with DMF, methanesulphonyl chloride in the presence of borontrifluoride etherate and acetic anhydride in the presence of sodium acetate, respectively. 1, 3-Diaryl-1, 3-dihydro-4, 6-dioxo-5-phenylacetyl-2-thioxo-5H-pyrimidines 2a-f have been prepared by the reaction of 1, 3-diaryl-1, 3-dihydro-4, 6-dioxo-2-thioxo-5H-pyrimidines 1a-f with phenylacetyl chloride in the presence of pyridine.
