Germanium-containing derivatives of mandelic and lactic acids

Two methods are proposed for preparing trialkylgermyl esters of α-substituted phenylacetic and propionic acids: germylation with trialkylhalogermanes (in the presence of triethylamine) and with dimethyl-aminotrialkylgermanes. The reaction of (dimethylamino)trialkylgermanes with methyl mandelate yields products of germylation at the hydroxy group. Previously unknown 3-trialkylgermyl-2-propynyl esters of (acetoxy)- and (trifluoroacetoxy)phenylacetic and 2-methoxypropionic acids are prepared.
