1847-55-8 Usage
Uses
Used in Personal Care Industry:
Sodium (Z)-octadec-9-enyl sulphate is used as a surfactant in personal care products such as shampoos and soaps for its ability to reduce surface tension, allowing for easier mixing with dirt and oil, and promoting effective cleansing.
Used in Household Products Industry:
In household products like detergents, sodium (Z)-octadec-9-enyl sulphate is used as a surfactant to enhance the cleaning power by reducing the surface tension of water and enabling it to mix more easily with dirt and oil.
Used in Skincare and Haircare Products:
Sodium (Z)-octadec-9-enyl sulphate is used as a mild cleansing agent in skincare and haircare products due to its gentle yet effective cleansing properties, making it suitable for sensitive skin and hair types.
Used in Creams and Lotions:
Sodium (Z)-octadec-9-enyl sulphate is used as an emulsifier in creams and lotions, allowing for the combination of water and oil-based ingredients, ensuring a smooth and stable product texture.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1847-55-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,8,4 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1847-55:
(6*1)+(5*8)+(4*4)+(3*7)+(2*5)+(1*5)=98
98 % 10 = 8
So 1847-55-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and Characterization of Single-Chain Second Generation Cleavable Surfactants
Jaeger, David A.,Sayed, Yasmin M.
, p. 2619 - 2627 (2007/10/02)
Three series of single-chain, second generation cleavable surfactants, trans-trimethylammonium methanesulfonate (1) and sodium (2) and triethanolammonium trans-8-(2,2-dialkyl-5-octyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)octane-1-sulfate (3) (a, R = Me; b, R = Et; c, R = Pr; d, R = Bu), were prepared.They were characterized by critical micelle concentration, Krafft temperature, and dynamic laser light scattering measurements.Acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of surfactants 1, 2, and 3 gives (threo-9,10-dihydroxyoctadecyl)trimethylammonium methanesulfonate (4) and sodium (6) and triethanolammonium threo-9,10-dihydroxyoctadecane-1-sulfate (7), respectively, and a dialkyl ketone 5 (a, Me2CO; b, Et2CO; c, Pr2CO; d, Bu2CO).Cleavage of these surfactants thus gives another surfactant, with a higher critical micelle concentration, and a water-soluble neutral compound.Surfactants 3 were about 20 times more reactive than 1.
