Air & Water Reactions
Water soluble.
Reactivity Profile
An alcohol and an amide. Flammable and/or toxic gases are generated by the combination of alcohols with alkali metals, nitrides, and strong reducing agents. They react with oxoacids and carboxylic acids to form esters plus water. Oxidizing agents convert them to aldehydes or ketones. Alcohols exhibit both weak acid and weak base behavior. They may initiate the polymerization of isocyanates and epoxides. Organic amides/imides react with azo and diazo compounds to generate toxic gases. Flammable gases are formed by the reaction of organic amides/imides with strong reducing agents. Amides are very weak bases (weaker than water). Imides are less basic yet and in fact react with strong bases to form salts. That is, they can react as acids. Mixing amides with dehydrating agents such as P2O5 or SOCl2 generates the corresponding nitrile. The combustion of these compounds generates mixed oxides of nitrogen (NOx).
Fire Hazard
The flash point of 4,5-dihydroxy-1,3-bis(hydroxymethyl)imidazolidin-2-one has not been determined, but 4,5-dihydroxy-1,3-bis(hydroxymethyl)imidazolidin-2-one is probably combustible.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1854-26-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,8,5 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1854-26:
(6*1)+(5*8)+(4*5)+(3*4)+(2*2)+(1*6)=88
88 % 10 = 8
So 1854-26-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

-
Paragraph 0051; 0053; 0054; 0057; 0061, (2017/08/25)
The invention provides a preparation method of dimethylol dihydroxy ethylene urea. The method comprises the following steps: 1, reacting urea with glyoxal in the presence of sulfonic acid and sulfonic acid alkali metal salt at 30-60DEG C for 3-6h to prepare a dihydroxy ethylene urea intermediate; and 2, reacting the dihydroxy ethylene urea intermediate obtained in step 1 with a formaldehyde and optional organic alcohol amine mixture in the presence of dialkali metal hydrogen phosphate and alkali metal dihydrogen phosphate at 40-60DEG C for 2-4h to obtain a target product. The preparation method has the advantages of stable reaction and high conversion rate, and the product has the advantages of high content of active groups, and strong responsivity.
