Imidazole ring
A five-membered heterocyclic ring with alternating double bonds, containing one nitrogen atom.
Hydroxyl group
A polar functional group (-OH) attached to the 1-position of the imidazole ring.
Methyl group
A non-polar alkyl group (-CH3) attached to the 2-position of the imidazole ring.
Nitro group
A polar functional group (-NO2) attached to the 5-position of the imidazole ring, which can undergo various chemical reactions.
Benzene ring
A six-membered aromatic ring with alternating single and double bonds.
Methyl substitution on benzene
A non-polar alkyl group (-CH3) attached to one of the carbon atoms on the benzene ring.
Phenoxy group
A polar functional group (-O-C6H4-) attached to the nitrogen atom of the imidazole ring, which may contribute to biological activity.
Potential applications
This chemical compound may have applications in pharmaceuticals or organic synthesis due to the presence of the imidazole ring, which has biological activity, and the nitro group, which can undergo various chemical reactions.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 19180-00-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,9,1,8 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 19180-00:
(7*1)+(6*9)+(5*1)+(4*8)+(3*0)+(2*0)+(1*0)=98
98 % 10 = 8
So 19180-00-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of some new 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole derivatives
Ganguly,Singh,Chandra
, p. 781 - 782 (2007/10/03)
Amines and phenoxy derivatives of 1-(3′-chloro-2′- hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole were synthesized by reacting 1-(3′-chloro-2′-hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole with appropriate amines and phenols. These compounds were characterized by spectral and elemental analyses. All the compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity.
