Diastereomerically pure 8-amino substituted (5S,7S)-2-phenyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-6,6-dimethylmethanoquinolines were prepared and assessed in the enantioselective palladium catalysed allylic substitution of 1,3-diphenylprop-2-enyl acetate with dimethyl malonate and addition of diethylzinc to benzaldehyde. Enantioselectivities up to 68% were obtained.
