Synthesis of certain 2-substituted-4-substitutedmethyl thiazole derivatives as potential antitumor agents

The synthesis, structure elucidation and chemotherapeutic activity of certain new 2-substituted-4-substitutedmethyl thiazole derivatives are reported. The newly prepared compounds were screened for their in vitro antibacterial and antitumor activities. The results revealed that compounds 4, 5, 12 and 18 are active against grame-positive bacteria in the order 18, 12, 5 and 4. Meanwhile, compounds 12 and 18 possess a remarkable antitumor activity using cytotoxicity assay.
