2-Methyl-2-ethylbutyric acid, also known as MEBA, is an organic chemical compound belonging to the category of carboxylic acids. It consists of a methyl group (-CH3) and an ethyl group (-C2H5) attached to the second carbon of a butyric acid molecule. It is known to present a fruity, acidic, and sour odor and taste which is why it's used as a flavoring agent and in perfume and fragrance products. In terms of physical features, it is a liquid at room temperature and possesses a significantly high boiling point. Its chemical formula is C7H14O2 and has a molecular weight of 130.19 g/mol. As with many organic acids, it should be handled with care due to its corrosive properties.

Herein we describe the auxiliary-directed arylation of unactivated C(sp3)?H bonds with aryldiazonium salts, which proceeds under synergistic photoredox and palladium catalysis. The site-selective arylation of aliphatic amides with α-quaternary centres is achieved with high selectivity for β-methyl C(sp3)?H bonds. This operationally simple method is compatible with carbocyclic amides, a range of aryldiazonium salts and proceeds at ambient conditions.
