Neutral trans-bis(diaminocarbene)platinum(II) complexes (2 and 4) and the neutral bis[ { (alkoxy) (amino) }carbene] platinum(II) complex (6) have been successfully synthesized by the reaction of the trans-diiodo[bis(isocyanide) ]platinum(II) complex (1) with amines and alcohols, respectively. The reaction of complex 1 with a primary amine in dichloromethane proceeds via initial formation of 4, and finally gives a neutral ortho-metallated bis(diaminocarbene)platinum(II) complex (3).
