A turn-on hydrogen sulfide (H2S) fluorescence probe, 4-{2-[4-(2,4-dinitrophenoxy)-phenyl]-vinyl}-1-methyl-pyridinium iodide (DPPVP), based on the thiolysis reaction of dinitrophenyl ethers (DNP) has been proposed. Pyridinium structure enhanced the water solubility of DPPVP, which could quickly respond to H2S in absolute PBS solution and the fluorescence spectra of DPPVP at 520 nm were turned on by H2S. The spectra results exhibited that DPPVP could sensitively detect H2S with satisfied linear range (0–40 μM) and detection limit (13.4 nM). The high selectivity for H2S against biothiols was attributed to the significant difference in the pKa and the molecular size. Moreover, DPPVP has been successfully used for detecting H2S in vegetable.

The invention relates to a hemicyanine-based copper ion ratiometric fluorescent probe and preparation and application thereof. The molecular formula of the fluorescent probe is C20H17IN2O2; the preparation of the fluorescent probe comprises the steps that 1, 4-picoline and iodomethane react to obtain 1,4-lutidine iodate which is a compound 1; 2, the compound 1 and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde react to obtain 4-(4-hydroxyl-styryl)-1-picoline iodate which is a compound 2; 3, the compound 2 and 2-picolinic acid react to obtain a copper ion ratiometric fluorescent probe 4-(4-picolinate-styryl)-1-picoline iodate which is a compound 3. According to the application of the fluorescent probe, the fluorescent probe and copper ions react in a pure water solution, and changes of the ratio (F503 nm/F448 nm) of fluorescence intensities at two different emission wavelengths are used for detecting whether copper ions exist or not. The probe is simple in preparation and treatment process, molecules of the fluorescent probe are in a copper ion and other positive ion coexistence system, and the high selectivity and sensitivity are shown.

Light shifting: Ratiometric fluorescent probes for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) were developed through a focused library strategy. One of the probes in the library, showed a redshift of over 100nm and an increase of over 30-fold in the emission intensity ratio (see scheme). This probe was utilized to detect H2O2 generated during glucose oxidation. Copyright

Counterions affect on the substructures formation in the case of the merocyanine dye, 1-methyl-4-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl)]piridinium] hydrogensquarate both in gas and condense phase. Spectroscopically and structural elucidation of these aggregates have been performed, using solid-state conventional and linear-polarized IR-spectroscopy of oriented colloids as a nematic liquid crystal suspension, UV-vis spectroscopy, HPLC tandem ESI mass spectrometry, 1H and 13C NMR, TGV and DSC. Quantum chemical DFT calculations have been carried out as well. Experimental and theoretical data are compared with analogous ones of corresponding iodide salt of dye studied.
