The reactions of lithium trimethysilymethyls with isocyanides were studied. These reactions provide a convenient source for synthesizing aldehydes, ketones, α-hydroxy-ketones, β-hydroxy-ketones, β-hydroxy-acids, α-keto-acids, and α-amino-acids. Each of the compounds 1-9 was fully characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and microanalysis. X-ray diffraction data were also provided for the complexes 4, 6b and 8.
