20408-97-3 Usage
Description
5-Thio-D-glucose (20408-97-3) is a potent competitive inhibitor of the cellular transport of glucose and glucose-mediated insulin release.1 May be used to induce a state of glucose deprivation in laboratory animals.2 Stimulates feeding in rat models.3? Induces Alzheimer-like changes in frontal cortex and hippocampus in rats.4? Elevates renal TGF-b1 at a dose that does not prevent streptozotocin diabetes in rats.5
Uses
5-Thio-D-glucose (cas# 20408-97-3) is a compound useful in organic synthesis.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 20408-97-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,0,4,0 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 20408-97:
(7*2)+(6*0)+(5*4)+(4*0)+(3*8)+(2*9)+(1*7)=83
83 % 10 = 3
So 20408-97-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
