Sulfenes generated in situ from sulfonyl chlorides and tert. amines were treated with vicinal tricarbonyl compounds such as indan-1,2,3-trione, 1-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-2,3,4-trione, alloxane, and diethyl mesoxalate.The products mainly were of the same structural type as pyridinium (1c).In some cases other products were observed.
