Reaction of CpMF3 (M = Ti, Zr) with [MeAlN(2,6-iPr2C6H3)]3 leads to fluorine-nitrogen exchange and the formation of isostructural adamantanelike cages. This reaction proceeds with activation of metal-fluorine bonds and can be regarded as a new route to aluminum-containing mixed group 4 amidofluorides.
