General Description
M-Methyl red is a pH indicator dye widely used in biochemical and microbiological applications. Its chemical structure consists of a benzene ring with two methyl groups at the meta position, and a carboxyl group. M-Methyl red is red at acidic pH and yellow at alkaline pH, with a transition point around pH 4.4-6.2. This property makes it useful for identifying bacteria that produce acids during glucose fermentation, as the acidic environment causes the dye to turn red. This reaction allows for the easy detection of organisms such as E. coli and other enteric bacteria. M-Methyl red is also utilized in the determination of the end point in titration experiments.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 20691-84-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,0,6,9 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 20691-84:
(7*2)+(6*0)+(5*6)+(4*9)+(3*1)+(2*8)+(1*4)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 20691-84-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

(Chemical Equation Presented) A simple and efficient method was developped for the synthesis of 3-(5-amino-4-cyano-1H-imidazol-1-yl)-4-substituted benzoic acids 3. These compounds were isolated by intramolecular cyclisation of the corresponding 3-{[(Z)-2-amino-1,2-dicyano-vinyl]amino}methyleneaminobenzoic acids in the presence of base.
