(4-fluorophenyl)triphenylphosphonium iodide is a phosphonium salt with the chemical formula C19H15FIP. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and organic solvents. (4-fluorophenyl)triphenylphosphonium iodide is formed by the combination of a 4-fluorophenyl group, a triphenylphosphonium cation, and an iodide anion. It is widely used in organic synthesis, particularly as a phase-transfer catalyst and a precursor for the preparation of other phosphonium salts. The 4-fluorophenyl group imparts unique electronic properties to the molecule, making it a valuable building block in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 21388-46-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,1,3,8 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 21388-46:
(7*2)+(6*1)+(5*3)+(4*8)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*6)=105
105 % 10 = 5
So 21388-46-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of (4-[18F]fluorophenyl)triphenylphosphonium as a potential imaging agent for mitochondrial dysfunction

Cheng, Zhen,Subbarayan, Murugesan,Chen, Xiaoyuan,Gambhir, Sanjiv Sam

, p. 131 - 137 (2005)

Tetraphenylphosphonium (TPP) cation is able to function as a molecular probe for monitoring mitochondrial disease. The F-18 labeled TPP, (4-[ 18F]fluorophenyl) triphenylphosphonium (18FTPP), was therefore developed as a PET radioligand for in vivo molecular imaging of mitochondrial dysfunction. 18FTPP was synthesized via direct nucleophilic substitution of no-carrier-added [18F]fluoride with the precursor 4-nitrophenyltriphenylphosphonium. After purification by HPLC, the average radiochemical yield was determined to be 10-15% and the specific activity was >500 Ci/ mmol at the end of synthesis. The total synthesis time was within 60min, and the radiochemical purity of the 18FTPP was above 95%. Copyright
