Cyclohexanes substitued with ester and ether derivatives of varying electron demand were investigated at low temperature. The accurate structural parameters were obtained for comparision purposes. It was shown that and axial oxygen substituent posseses two antiperoplanar C-H bonds that donated electron density into the C-O antibonding orbital. The C-O bond distances were 1.497 (2) and 1.491 (2) A for the two derivatives.
