Unsymmetrical bidentate ligands bearing chiral phosphetane units

Bidentate ligands containing a PPh2 group and a P-chiral phosphetane moiety have been prepared from the optically pure P-menthyl substituted phosphetane oxide 4. The PPh2 group is introduced at a distance of three, four or five bonds from the other phosphorus atom by methodologies involving the corresponding hydroxy-substituted phosphetanes.
