The intermediacy of trialkylsiloxycarbenium ions was demonstrated by NMR spectroscopy during the reduction of ketones with hydrosilanes catalyzed by trityl tetrakisborate.It is suggested that the nonnucleophilic nature of the counter anion plays an important part in the modification of the reaction courses.
