It is insoluble in water and undergoes color changes when treated with strong sulfuric acid (light yellow) and alkaline reduction (dark brown color body hidden). Acid reduction results in a red light brown color body hidden. Vat Red 10 is sensitive to light and is known for its affinity towards cotton, providing excellent levelness in dyeing.

Used in Textile Industry:
Vat Red 10 is used as a dye for cotton fabric, providing a blue-ray red color with excellent affinity and levelness. It is also used for direct printing of cotton fabric and dye printing. Additionally, it can be used for dyeing viscose and stick/cotton blended fabrics.
Standard:
Vat Red 10 meets various standards for fastness, including ironing fastness (ISO 3, AATCC 4), chlorine bleach (ISO 5, AATCC 5), light fastness (ISO 6-7, AATCC 6), oxygen bleach (ISO 4, AATCC 4), and soaping (ISO 4-5, AATCC 4-5). It also has fading and stain resistance properties.

Preparation

1-Nitro-2-anthraquinonecarbonyl chloride and 2-Amino-3-hydroxyanthracene-9,10-dione?condensation, and then closed loop into thiazole, again will nitro reduction.
