General Description

1-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]urea is a urea based surface modifying agent that is used for forming self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on a variety of substrates. It is mainly utilized to immobilize the surface atoms by forming a ligand.

A method for producing an ureido group-containing organosilicon compound includes the following steps (I) and (II): (I): a step of obtaining a compound represented by formula (1) by reacting urea and an amino group-containing organosilicon compound represented by formula (3): wherein R1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or the like, R3 represents a hydrogen atom or the like, Me represents a methyl group, m represents an integer of 1 to 3, and n represents an integer of 1 to 12, wherein R2 represents a hydrogen atom or the like, and R1, Me, m, and n represent the same meaning as described above; and (II): a step of further reacting by supplying the amino group-containing organosilicon compound represented by formula (3) to a mixture containing a compound represented by formula (1) and urea.
