Methyl p-(1,5-dimethyl-3-oxo-1,4-hexadienyl)- and p-(1,5-dimethylhexyl)benzoates - aromatic analogs of juvabione possessing juvenile hormone activity - were obtained by the hydration and reduction of methyl p-(1,5-dimethyl-1,5-hexadien-3-ynyl)benzoate.
