Description
Vat Brown 1 is a fine, dark brown to black crystalline powder with a slight odor. It is a vat dye that is slightly soluble in hot 1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydronaphthalene and thermal xylene, but insoluble in cold xylene. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns Copenhagen green and forms a brown precipitate upon dilution. Alkaline reduction leuco results in a yellow-brown color, while acid reduction leuco yields a dark olive color.
Uses
Used in Textile Industry:
Vat Brown 1 is used as a dye for cotton, hemp, silk, and viscose dyeing and printing. It is a common variety for cotton yarn dyeing.
Used in Polyester/Cotton Blended Fabric Industry:
Vat Brown 1 is used for two-bath dyeing of polyester in polyester/cotton blended fabrics, resulting in minimal color on the cotton component.
Used in Cotton Knitwear Dyeing:
The leuco form of Vat Brown 1 is used for dyeing cotton knitwear.
Standard:
Vat Brown 1 meets the following standards for various properties:
Ironing Fastness: ISO 5, AATCC 5
Chlorine bleach: ISO 4-5, AATCC 4-5
Light Fastness: ISO 7, AATCC 8
Mercerized: N/A
Oxygen bleach: ISO 4-5, AATCC 4-5
Soaping: ISO 5, AATCC 5
Fading: N/A
Stain: N/A
These properties indicate that Vat Brown 1 has good ironing fastness, light fastness, and soaping performance, making it suitable for various textile applications.
Preparation
1,4-Diaminoanthraquinone and 1-Bromoanthracene-9,10-dione or 1-Bromoanthracene-9,10-dione (2 Moore) condensation, its product in Pyridine with Aluminium chloride heating.
Air & Water Reactions
Insoluble in water.
Reactivity Profile

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 2475-33-4 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 2,4,7 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 2475-33:
(6*2)+(5*4)+(4*7)+(3*5)+(2*3)+(1*3)=84
84 % 10 = 4
So 2475-33-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Method for synthesizing vat brown BR
-
Paragraph 0032; 0034-0036; 0038-0039, (2020/06/02)
The invention relates to the technical field of dyes, specifically to a method for synthesizing vat brown BR. The method comprises the following steps: condensing 1,4-dihydroxy anthraquinone and 1-amino anthraquinone under the catalysis of a phase transfer catalyst and copper powder so as to obtain a vat brown BR imine intermediate, wherein boric acid is added as a hydroxyl protective agent in thereaction; and allowing the vat brown BR imine intermediate to react with aluminum trichloride for ring closure so as to obtain the vat brown BR. The method for synthesizing the vat brown BR providedby the invention has the following advantages: the reaction is more thorough; the conversion rate of the method is improved from 78-80% in the prior art to 95% or above; the quality of an obtained product is higher; only materials and water are contained in the product; a large amount of sodium carbonate and sodium acetate which are added as acid-binding agents in a conventional production processare removed, so emission of pollutants is reduced; the use of a raw material, namely 1-chloroanthraquinone which can be produced only by producing a large amount of waste acid and heavy metal mercuryis avoided, so the discharge of a large amount of pollutants is indirectly reduced; and the obtained intermediate imine product has higher quality, so the step of oxidation in the production processof a finished product is reduced, and the production operation process is simplified.
