New reactions and reactive intermediates in the pyrolysis of cyclic phosphonium ylides
Aitken, R. Alan,Bj?rnstad, Vidar,Massil, Tracy,Skramstad, Jan,Young, Robert J.
, p. 293 - 301 (2017)
Pyrolysis, either neat or in diphenyl ether solution, results in the conversion of both 4-triphenylphosphoranylidenetetrahydrofuran-2,3,5-trione and 4-triphenylphosphoranylidenetetrahydrothio-phene-2,3,5-trione into 3,5-bis(triphenylphosphoranylidene)cyclopentane-1,2,4-trione. These reactions involve extrusion of CO2 or COS to give 3-triphenylphosphoranylidenecyclopropane-1,2-dione which further loses CO to give triphenylphosphoranylideneketene. The precise way in which these two reactive phosphorus compounds combine to give the observed product has been examined by chemical and isotopic labelling studies. Cyclotrimerization of triphenylphosphoranylideneketene upon thermolysis in diphenyl ether has also been observed for the first time. The erroneous literature interpretation of the 13C NMR spectrum for triphenylphosphoranylideneketene is corrected.
Specific isotope enrichment of methyl methacrylate
Werkhoven, Thekla M.,Van Nispen, Reinier,Lugtenburg, Johan
, p. 2909 - 2914 (2007/10/03)
A synthetic scheme has been developed to prepare methyl methacrylate specifically 13C-labelled at all different positions and in any combination of positions, from simple, commercially available starting materials. According to this scheme methyl (1-13C) and methyl (2-13C)methacrylate (1a and 1b) have been prepared with high label incorporation (99%).
Synthesis of Precursors for the Pyrolytic Formation of Pentatetraenones
Arena, Phillip,Brown, Roger F. C.,Eastwood, Frank W.,McNaughton, Don
, p. 663 - 672 (2007/10/03)
3-(9',10'-Dihydro-9',10'-ethanoanthracen-11'-ylidene)prop-2-enoyl chloride and its [12',12'-2H2] and [1-13C] isotopomers have been prepared and pyrolysed. Argon matrix infrared spectroscopy showed ν2 bands at 2207.7, 2207.0, and 2168.5 cm-1 respectively for the three pentatetraenone isotopomers. The pyrolysate of the 12'-methyl substituted precursor showed a band at 2205 cm-1 which was tentatively assigned to methylpentatetraenone. The 12'-ethenyl substituted precursor gave a pyrolysate showing ketene bands but also yielded 9,10-dihydro-9,10[1',2']-benzenoanthracene.
