The reaction of aryl-substituted 2,4-dichloro-2-pentene-1,5-diones with ammonia gave aryl-substituted 3,5-dichloropyridines.The reactions with acids gave 2-aroyl-4-chlorofurans together with the chlorine-substituted pyrylium and thiopyrylium salts.
