BERBERINE COMPOUNDS, BERBERINE COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS FOR ADMINISTRATION THEREOF
-
Paragraph 0145-0146, (2021/08/20)
Compounds and berberine compositions containing such compounds that are useful for reducing nicotine dependency. Methods for administering the berberine compositions are also disclosed. The compounds may have a structure according to Formula (I). In Formula (I) R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are independently H or D; R6 and R7 are independently hydrogen, deuterium, halogen, C4 to C8 unsubstituted aryl, C4 to C8 substituted aryl, C2 to C6 unsubstituted heterocycle, C2 to C6 substituted heterocycle, C1 to C6 unsubstituted alkyl, C1 to C6 substituted alkyl, C3-C10 unsubstituted cycloalkyl, C3- C10 substituted cycloalkyl, or R6 and R7 are taken together as =O or =S; and R8 and R9 are independently selected from a group consisting of methyl, CHF2, and CF3.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR THE TREATMENT OF METABOLIC AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISORDERS
-
Page/Page column 103, (2010/10/03)
Methods and compositions containing a berberine related compound are provided for the prevention and treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders including metabolic syndrome, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hypertension and elevated cholesterol in mammalian subjects. The methods and compositions of the invention are effective for prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hypertension and elevated cholesterol. Additional compositions and methods are provided which employ a berberine related or derivative compound including demethylated derivatives in combination with a second anti- therapeutic agent to yield more effective treatment tools against metabolic disorders, and/or dual activity therapeutic methods and formulations useful to prevent or reduce hyperlipidemia and/or hyperglycemia and one or more causal or related symptoms or conditions associated with hyperlipidemia and/or hyperglycemia in mammalian subjects.
Sorptive composite materials
-
Page/Page column 10, (2008/06/13)
The invention relates to sorptive composite materials comprising a sorbent entrapped in a cross-linked acrylic polymer. These composites can be tailored for extraction and feeding of compounds from/to liquid phases or multiphase systems such as cell suspensions. Key features of the sorptive composite materials arc stability (chemical, mechanical, biological and thermal), selectivity (physical and chemical), biocompatibility, and a characteristic upon which the sorptive composite materials can be separated from liquid or multi-phase systems. The invention also relates to techniques for the preparation of such sorptive composite materials as well as applications thereof.
