General Description

2',7'-dibromo-3',6'-dihydroxyspiro[isobenzofuran-1(3H),9'-[9H]xanthene]-3-one, also known as dibromofluorescein, is a synthetic fluorescent dye commonly used in biological and chemical research. It is a xanthene derivative with two bromine atoms and two hydroxyl groups attached to a spiro carbon. Dibromofluorescein is often used as a pH indicator, changing color from yellow to red as the pH of a solution increases.
